Full Color Friday

Back again with another edition of Full Color Friday. Hope your week has been going alright and that you all get to enjoy the  three day weekend in some manner. It would mean more if i had a job to escape from but I am hoping to go out at some point and see people that i love to party with and have a good time.

Remember that the heavenly Bodies event is going down starting tonight in Burlington MA. Please go and check it out. They have supported my art and treat me very well. If you do go tell them that Mike aka MacSketchy sent you and maybe I can pull some strings on that admission fee. Getting paid in trade sometimes has its benefits ya know.

So today i got something kinda cool. i recently did a plumper version of Giselle from Disney's "Enchanted". I like how it came out and some of you did as well. So I wanted to work with here again. I figured it would be a good featured post on here. You might have noticed her up top of the page already but here she is in all her curvy and plumped up glory.

So here is another take on her with a little something extra. I really enjoy drawing her. SHe has such great lines. Nothing annoying or straight about it slow things down. 

This one is a cool little idea I had too. I've seen a lot of people do their takes on the Disney princesses dressed as their respective antagonists. So here is my spin on it. Not only do we have a plumped up Giselle, but she is in her antagonists makeup and colors. She came out really well. Hoping to do more of this kinda thing soon.

TCT - Tailgating Edition

Its that time of year again. The crisp autumn air is slowly creeping in. We got a good taste of it yesterday here in New England. The smell or beers and brahts cooking on an open grill in a parking lot filled with cars. Young people entering stadiums half naked with other peoples names painted on their chests and backs. Ahhh yes, its back to football.  While the NFL doesnt kick off until next week, we get our first taste of real gridiron competition tonight with the college football season getting underway. I am not a huge fan of it but I do pay attention to how the season unfolds. Its hard not when its the only thing to watch on saturdays ya know.

I don't really have a favorite team. Boston isn't really known for its stellar college football programs anyway. I always root for BC. Pay attention to the Harvard and Yale thing. Other than those ones I go for the midwest teams mainly. ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin. Pretty much all the schools with good college hockey teams I pay attention too. My school didnt have a team so i can pick and choose. we barely had enough people in my class to fill out a roster anyway.

So as a nice little treat to join the party I did a nice little football theme.

Hump Day - Birthday Edition

Not everyday i get to wish someone special a happy birthday on here. No its not mine. You will have to wait til November to get me something good. Or not. You could always, ya know, hit the gold button to the left and help a brotha out.

Its not about me today though. Today is Britney Black's birthday. Wahooo!!! I wish i could have gotten you something special Brit but times are tough around here and your Amazon wishlist aint cheap there girly. So in honor of your fun, beautiful, sweet sexy self I figured i would adorn the walls of the blog with some art of your ass again. Hope you like it.

Tuesday Update

I mentioned before that updates might be few and far between for a bit while i adjust to the new job thing. Well, lets just say I have some fun stuff to post for you all. Things are always going on with me and sometimes its just not worth mentioning. I have done some good art when I got myself down to the drawing table though and as always I want to share them with you.

Hope you like them. No real theme today just good shit.

She kinda came out looking a little crazier than I though but I kinda fits.

These two are of course the Miss Kitty Character from "An American Tail: Fievel Goes West". I always enjoy that movie and wanted to draw her. She's a pretty good addition to the thick chicks I draw.

Here is the final FINAL piece I did for a client. After trying something different and realizing I should have just stuck with the original I fixed it and here she is. Ms Heidi in the flesh. Sort of.

Furry Friday

Is it 'Furry" or 'furrie"? I've never been quite sure how to spell it. I'm also not sure that this post is even in that category, however it makes for a good page title anyway.

I was watching "An American Tail: Fievel Goes West" again the other day. Yes I watch it way more than I should but its a fun movie with brilliant animation. One of the best characters in it is Tiger's girlfriend, Miss Kitty. She's got the typical New York/Brooklyn accent but when she goes out west she rocks the saloon showgirl get up. I must say for a cartoon feline, she is quite sexy.

So I figured I would try to her some justice and draw her in a few sketches for the page. She's thick, she's sexy and I wanted to draw her.

TCT - Catch Up Edition

Sorry for lack of posts this week. I told ya once I got the day job some things might be slacking a bit. I am happy to say that i do have some good stuff to share with you this week. So lets get to it shall we?

Not a bad showing for a delayed and distracted week right? making up for hump day.

Progress

So its a saturday. Not sure what i am going to be doing tonight. You are welcome to join me if you would like. I am more than likely going to be staying local tonight but I'd like to go out and toast to the future. I've made some big steps this week and want to have a good time again. I finished up the commissions I had on the table and for the most part they were met with great enthusiasm. Gotta love a happy client.

So one of the bigger jobs I had was the art for the promo of the Heavenly Bodies Labor Day Bash. Its one of their biggest and most popular events of the year. i hope to at least make it one night for a little bit, seeing that some of my payment is in "dance bucks" haha. Maybe one of you could accompany me and get in for free. So I sent them all the art I did and they usually take the art and do with it what they want. I must say that the final spot they are using looks better than what I had planned. Its gorgeous.

I will be helping to promote and hype the event as much as I can on here too.

One the other note I finished up and colored a piece this morning that I wanted to at least have one more piece of hot art to show off before my schedule goes a little askew.

Full Color Friday

I'm kinda digging this theme for fridays. This is one of the few that i have done in a row. I try to color the best works and sketches that I have and want to share. I am thinking of trying to keep it going as it gives me a goal to work towards at the end of each week. Sound good? Good.

Next week posts may be a little more varied and delayed as I start my new job monday. Working all day will push back when i get to the drawing board. I am not slowing down though. More plus sized goodness coming at you.

TCT - Busy Busy Busy Edition

Funny thing how you can be going along and think you have enough time for stuff and then all of a sudden you get a deadline and everything falls around that. I have a deadline now. Monday i start a new job (Finally!) hopefully it works out and I can start putting money back into my account and wallet and work towards furthering this page and my art. its all about the art now. So working on stuff with that monday start date on my mind I was very busy today.

I got hooked up and am doing the art for the Heavenly Bodies Labor Day bash. We'll see how they end  up using it but I really like how it came together. There were a few ideas that we knocked around, but a deadline came up and I was charged with using my artistic preference and it went from a job i thought would take a couple hours to taking all day. Been bouncing and rolling around my room/studio all day working and reworking other ideas. They all look great and I wanted to share them with you all here too.

I hope that your week is going well. Mine certainly perked up from where my head has been lately. Happy Thick Chick Thursday everyone.

You may recognize these first two ladies. the piece needed more oomf so i went back to some of the girls that I liked a lot but didnt get much notice. The dark haired lady is one my faves. While reworking the girl at the top she kinda ended up looking like a certain burlesque lady that we all know and love. Happy accident. ;)

These two were done specifically for the piece. they came out pretty good as well.

Hump Day, Hope Day

happy Hump Day everyone. Hope your week is treating you well and things are going good for you.
I threw in the little bit of hope in the title not for just that your week is going well but for me. Had a little job interview this afternoon and I hope something comes of it. I'm hurting and worried about whats gonna happen if and when my unemployment ends. Trying to pinch my pennies and all that shit.

Not stopping me from doing art though. Finishing up a small commission for someone and hope to get some more going soon. My schedule is clear and open as of right now, so if you are interested in anything let me know.

Aside from that just doing what i do best, so let's get to it.

All pretty rough but sexy nonetheless. Looking to feature a few of these ladies in a new banner at the top of the page too.

Monday Monday

Back to the grind and trying to keep things in order. Mind is still a little daze. Dealing with thoughts of the future in all aspects.

Anyway to keep things moving here is a piece I did the other night to go with plus size Rapunzel. Mother Gothel is one of the best villains Disney has had in a long time. I wish she had more screen time but she still kills it.

Looking to get more of her too.

R.I.P. Joe Kubert

So i got away for a little while this weekend. Went over state lines to hang with a good friend and lose myself and thoughts for a day or so. It felt great. 

Funny thing about the universe is that no matter how many good days you have or how ever you escape, it has a way to bring you back to reality. Nothing does it quite like hearing of the death of someone you are familiar with and admired. I got news like that when i came home today.

Joe Kubert was and will be remembered as a legend in the comics and art industry. I had the honor and privilege of attending and graduating from the Joe Kubert School 6years ago. I learned a lot, whether you believe that from seeing my art here or not. The reason I am the artist I am today is because of all the skills and lessons I learned while attending the school. I graduated with a bachelors degree in animation and never had the chance to have a class taught by Joe but from what I heard it was one tough course. Most of my friends in school there had him at least once over the 3years we were there and all said it was awesome.

I had only one face to face meeting with him and that was at graduation, he said my name i ran up and got my degree and ran back to my table. He said my name. I'm good with that. When people throw the word "legend" or "legendary" around now I don't really think it applies to most people they are referring to. For everything that Joe did and accomplished in his life and career and for everything he has given us all I think that he really is a legend.  It sucks he's gone. Rest In Peace Mr Kubert. Thank you for very much for everything and helping to shape me as an artist.

Showtune Saturday

I do love my theme days don't I?

So last night I was watching "Tangled" again and got the itch to draw Ms Rapunzel and her crew again. So i picked up the pencil this morning and went nuts in the sketchbook. Most of the time when i do stuff I try to keep it from taking up the whole page so it easier to scan. Well with the "Tangled" crew i said fuck it and went full page, full rough and worked the hell out of my ebony pencil.

I really like how these came out and will clean them up some and color them. So keep your eyes peeled.

As far as the showtune aspect goes. I love to sing along to soundtracks and act out certain scenes when i am working. Helps with the creative flow. Just wanted to share that. A big white guy, that likes big girls and enjoys showtunes. Yup. Thats me. :)

Not bad for working fast and hot right?
